Sound of the Gospel by Alagbe Praise Oluwatosin

Dum Dum Dum goes his heartbeat.

Sound of the Gospel by Alagbe Praise Oluwatosin

The very sound that beckoned on me in my deepest sleep
Retorting to this mysterious sound, I found myself at the feet of the cross.
The one who started this sound could not be seen but the more I hear the sound,
The more my heart burns with love too strong to explain.

At the feet of the cross, this sound tells the story of the one called ‘The Gospel’
His conception, a mystery, his timing, abashing. A symbol of disgrace to the virgin Jews.
He came as man, yet he was God, grew up in wisdom and stature
The leader of the famous twelve,
He went about doing good, being light to the glory of his heavenly father.

This melodious sound was interrupted by the noise of the worldly systems
Blinded by their tradition about the messiah, they never approved of The Gospel
Hypocrites! They held on to vain beliefs they did not really believe.
A part of them yearned to know more about Him but they were too proud to admit it.
Look at them asking coded questions and sneaking to see the very one they publicly rejected.

At the feet of the cross, I hear a different sound. Cruel. Cold. Hostile
The sound gets louder with a stronger zeal than the former “Crucify him!” they cried
Raising my gaze, I saw The Gospel at the cross. His hands pierced, his body wasted.
He was mocked and rejected by those he came to save. The unknown messiah, King of the Jews.
He came for this purpose. To reconcile men back to God.

He lived to die and died to live forever.
My sound was buried for 3 days to restore me back to the very source of melody, God
He took my shame and reproach and made it his business.
His death gave me victory, his resurrection gave me hope and power
I am sustained by his life. He calls me little sis and co-heir
How can I deny a love so deep?
How can I hide from the one who fought death for my sake?
How can I reject the very one who has given me access to eternal riches?
Whatever comes my way, I shall never give up on The Gospel,
My power and hope of salvation.

The least I can do for this sound that has brought me thus far is to trust him blindly.
Come rain, come sunshine, I shall remain true to the mysterious love of The Gospel.
Can you hear it? The sound of his heartbeat
I will dance till you see what I have seen.
There is no shame in my new reality since it has been nailed to the cross.

No shame, no vessel
No shame, no cross
No Cross, no Gospel
No Gospel, no hope
No Gospel, no salvation
No Gospel, no me
