The Peaceable Fruit of Righteousness: Gospel Today Devotional - 12th April, 2023

For the past few days, we have been considering scriptural teachings that talk about the corrections of God toward us as sons. We were able to see the reason he corrects us, the need to endure, and the fact that it is for our profit. Today, we shall consider the final lesson in this series. Let's see the passage of scripture below:

The Peaceable Fruit of Righteousness: Gospel Today Devotional - 12th April, 2023

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby". (Hebrews 12:11)

It may not look joyous to be corrected by the Lord, and such corrections might look too much to bear but if only you know that He does it for your profit, you would endure and be patient to see what fruit it will bear.

Yesterday, we talked about the fact that God corrects us because he wants us to be partakers of his holiness, isn't it? This is to say that even if it does not seem joyous, but grievous at the moment, you should look at the bigger picture.

In the end, those corrections would yield in you the peaceable fruit of righteousness if you allow for them. God never corrects you for his pleasure but for your profit. That you may be a partaker of his holiness first of all and that you may bear peaceable fruit of righteousness. That's the aim of his rebuke and corrections. May the grace to endure and never see God as wicked when he corrects us be given to us. Amen.

Thought for the Day: the corrections of the Lord are aimed at producing in us peaceable fruit of righteousness. Knowing this, do you still see God as wicked when he corrects you?
