Many people do not like the idea of being corrected or rebuked for anything. It is safe therefore to say that many love to be pampered and told that they are doing well even when it is evident to them that they are not doing what is right. Should we then fail to correct people because correction can be painful sometimes? Only if those who are being corrected know why they are being corrected, they will not be tired of it. Let's see the passage below:
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: [6] For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. (Hebrews 12:5-6)
When you are corrected by God through the Holy Spirit, do you despise his correction? It doesn't have to be pleasant nor does it have to be appealing. The Lord can correct you in whichever way he sees fit. Your responsibility as one who is being corrected or chastised as scripture puts it is to accept it and change.
Do you faint at his rebuke? Don't you know that it is necessary? You should be grateful that he corrects you when you err because he could have left you alone to perish in your faults. The reason you are being rebuked or corrected or chastised is that you are loved.
It may come as a warning, as a scourging, a sharp rebuke, whichever way God decides to correct you, he does so out of his love for you just the same way our parents correct us when we err. They do not do so because they hate us but rather because they love us. Therefore, each time you are corrected by God, do not grumble, or faint. He loves you and that is the reason he constantly corrects you and will continue to. The Lord bless his word in your heart. Amen.
Thought for the day: The Lord corrects and rebukes you as his son, not because he hates you but rather because he loves you for whom the Lord loves, he chastises.
