I love Him

But I’d rather have my Bible
At the darkest corner of my bag
He’s my Saviour
But I’d rather not identify with Him
Outside of the church.

I pray to Him in secret
But embarrassed of Him
On the rooftops.
I follow His rules
Just not when there’s a crowd.

I stock up my cellular
With songs that glorifies His
Eternal enemy
But I lift up Holy hands
Stealthily.

Like Peter,
I didn’t want to be caught.
‘twas obvious I knew Him.
But the realization of being caught off
From the rest of the world, terrified me.

I knew He’d want me
To speak up for Him.
“What would people say?”
I thought.
“What about me?” He asked.

I had to do something.
I either had to be with Him
Or be with His insignificant other.
I started with my ward
I stocked it with robes.

I stocked my ward with robes
The kinds that screamed my Faith
It was daunting at first.
All eyes were on me
But I could hear Him smile.

His smile was palpable.
My dresses now screamed Christ
Coupled with the band on my wrist.
I realized
Being embarrassed of Him meant one thing.

That I didn’t know Him!
Like Peter,
I was three months in
Before I realized my mistakes
And revised my ways.

Now, I’m His biggest fan.
I’m willing to be laughed at,
Provided He’s laughing with me.
I love Him. And
No longer am I ashamed of the Gospel.
