Book Review: We are not here to Play by Olawale Perfect Lawal

We are not here to play
Olawale Perfect Lawal
80 pages

In its foreword, the author established the fact that life is all about choices and that the quality of decisions we make determines the quality of life we'd live.

Your decisions, whether positive or negative will yield results.

There are 3 types of people in the world today
Those who make things happen
Those who watch things happen
Those who keep wondering what is happening.
The last two don't really put much into life because they are here to play so they're forgotten as soon as they pass away. On the other hand, The first group make great impact because they differentiate themselves by building a mindset that says - we are not here to play. Life is a serious business.

The book contains 21 well researched chapters entailing what everyone needs to do if they're not here to play. You can be easily distracted with the fun fair and side attractions in life.

Part 1
You need a Purpose
Chapter 1- Why are you here? Everyone and everything was created for a purpose. You are not a product of a genetic accident and this is why the theory of evolution that says man emerged from a monkey doesn't hold water.
- What was on God's mind when He created me? Nothing happens by chance and so no one has a story. Cite the Methuselah's story of how he lived 969 years.- "When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable" - Dr. Myles Munroe

Chapter 2 - He's not a Crazy Manufacturer
A crazy manufacturer is one who creates a product without having intention to solve a problem. God is intentional about the problem he wants you to solve and has designed you to fit. See Jeremiah - before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. A man that thinks he has no purpose in life is only insulting his maker.

Chapter 3 - Discover Your Purpose
It is one thing to know that you have purpose. It is another thing to discover it - Narrate the story on Page 16. When a man discovers purpose, he moves with precision and accuracy. Purpose is discovered not determined is a quote in the book but there are no defined steps in this chapter as regards discovering purpose. A microphone cannot tel its owner what it wants to do. It can only do what it was designed to do.

Chapter 4 - What is Success?
Thieves who break a bank to steal money may end up successful but this doesn't mean they're truly successful. There is a true definition of success and until you find it, you can't be called "successful". Having money, game, wealth/position doesn't make you successful.

True success comes when you fulfill your life and reach the "expected end" as promised in Jeremiah. Jesus says I come in the volume of the book written of me.
God doesn't think like humans and his definition of success is far from what man thinks.

Chapter 5 - Be Productive, not active

Chapter 6 - Life is short
Chapter 7 - Treasure in the grave
