Should Christians Invest For Profit?

To be blunt, the scriptures does not specifically state that Christians should invest , but also does not forbid it. God expects us to do something with what he has provided to help it grow. Investing is a way to make your financial assets grow. Investing is allocating resources , usually money, with the expectation of earning profits.

The Bible tells us to wisely save and invest for the future while also storing up treasures in heaven. Proverbs 21:20, says " There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up."

1. Be Faithful with Little

The first Biblical principle of investment is to be faithful with a few. The Bible in Luke 16: 10 - 11 says "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?". From this verse, it is a clear rule that if you want to build a massive wealth, you must be trustworthy with what you have already.

2. Invest for the Future

God is a long term planner and as believers, it is important that we learn to plan for pour long term goals - including investing. Some Christians feel it is not necessary to plan for a future need because God will take care of them. Others choose to spend everything they make instead of having an investment plan that would be profitable to them. Planning takes time but it is a necessary ingredient for a successful living, so that you do not have regrets in the future.

3. Only invest in things you can understand.

It is very important to understand what you are investing in and develop a strategy . Every investment has an element of risk. You should be well aware of the risk associated with the investments you are considering. Not all investments will be suitable for you at a particular time . Success in your investment has to do with knowledge and awareness. The Bible says in proverbs 24:3 -4 that " Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established. And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches."

It is wise to seek a professional advice to help you determine a perfect investment strategy .

Proverbs 13: 11 says " Wealth gained hastily will dwindle , but whoever gathers little by little will increase". Proverbs 28:20 also says " A faithful man will abound with blessings , but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished ".
