Funbi: What's this stain on my wedding gown? What exactly is this? I kept this wedding gown here… just for me to go and take my bath and return to wear it… and now, someone has stained it? Who came near this dress? (She begins to flare up in anger) Seyi! Seun! Which one of you came here? (Flicks tongue…) I will so deal with you people when I catch you. You will know why they call me Funbi pepper…. (She exits the stage)

Act 1
Scene 2

A couple appears on stage angry at each other.

Funbi: (walks into the stage angrily) Is that also why you cut the phone on me? I don't know why you're making me tired of this whole relationship. See, I don't like stress and you're stressing me already. Why would you lie to me? Why Akande?

Akande: I didn't lie to you, Funbi. It was just a miscalculation on my path. See, check my phone… you will see my message history. Check the alerts too. You have my password… Open all my bank apps… I didn't lie to you, Funbi. I didn't.

Funbi: (slaps him) Don't take me for a fool, Akande. It's just too obvious that you're lying… and you're covering your lies with another lie. You are a wicked being, Akande (Funbi begins to cry)

Akande: Forget those fake tears. You raise your temper and begin to act like you're completely faultless. I will have to report this case to the Pastor. In all my life, I have never beaten a woman for any reason and now, you dare slap me? Ah! This your temper is a serious issue oh and honestly, if we cannot address this matter now, I don't see myself getting married to you. I can't allow you slap my face over any issue.  You have to work on your temper oh (he storms out of the house)

Act 2 Scene 1

The stage opens with Pastor and his wife fighting… Akande gets close to the Pastor's house and hears a noise from the Pastor's house.

Pastor: Yeeeh! Yeeeh! Help me oh! My life! Jesus oh (he continues shouting and pleading as mummy Pastor keeps beating him…)

Mummy Pastor: Never again will you do that in your life. You went on the altar… you climbed the pulpit… a holy place for that matter… and you were using me to preach! In your life, if you try that again, I will remove your teeth. Everything! Sheybi you don't know how to talk… I will teach you a lesson

Pastor: Mummy Pastor, please forgive me. I didn't intend to do that oh. It's not like that mummy Pastor. (Beating continues as curtain closes…)

Act 2 Scene 2

Akande gets close to the Pastor's house and hears the noise from the Pastor's house. The noise continues in the background while the curtains are closed

Akande: Wait…. Is that not pastor's voice? Is that not mummy pastor? What could be happening. (Tries to peep through the window… Sis. Rita approaches the stage calling Bro Akande)

Akande: Ah!!! Ah!!! That is pastor lying on the floor oh! Hehehe!

Sis. Rita: Bro Akande, What's the issue? What's happening?…

Akande: It's Pastor oh. What my eyes have seen ehn…. Come… (he draws her close to the window)

Sis Rita: Abomination!! (They leave the window) What did I just see? (The noise from the beating recedes..) My brother, we have to help them oh. We must help them settle this.

Akande: With what I have seen now, I have come to the conclusion that every man to himself. I want to go back now and settle this issue with my fiancée. This issue of temperance is a personal issue and unless the Holy Spirit truly helps you, you will lose it. Make I come dey go my own jejely…
(Curtain closes)

Act 2 Scene 3

(Akande walks into the stage to meet his fiancée. He goes on his knees, pleading…)

Funbi: (seeing him kneeling) Hehehehe! Hello! What are you trying to do? You have seen that you're at fault abi? You now want to apologise? Unserious foolish man. (Hisses)

Akande: (Kneeling) My love, you see this little thing that happened between us is enough to break our relationship, but I understand that our lives are a work in progress. Forget about it… I understand that a relationship is the coming of two imperfect people who are working towards perfection with the help of the Holy Spirit. I want to apologise for anything I have done wrong but I want to plead with you that we slow the Holy Spirit to work in us. You see my dear, temperance is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that guides our lives. Temperance is the moderation or self control in actions or statements. It is abstaining from all that is evil and moderate from all that is good. Temperance is a spiritual discipline. Temperance is also self control my dear. See, we will have many issues, and this marriage will not work if we allow issues like anger to come in. We must learn to manage our temper and allow the fruits of the Holy Spirit to grow in our hearts…

Funbi: All these one wey you dey talk no reach my side oh. When you're done babbling, you will come and talk well… (she storms out of the stage)

Act 2
Scene 4

(Sister Rita comes on stage with a swollen mouth)
Sis. Rita: Na fight I wan go separate oh. Na im I comot with injury… Come to think of it, the issue at hand is something that if only both parties could manage their temper, it would not have happened. Funny enough, Pastor was still teaching last sunday from scriptures saying "Be angry but do not sin"… He was giving us an example in the life of Jesus where he angrily turned the tables of those buying and selling in the temple… but see that same Pastor and his wife… they couldn't even work on their own temperament… The message they preached in temperance is fighting against them and they are allowing the devil to have his way… Let me go and treat myself. Never again will I separate this kind of fight…

Act 3 Scene 1

(Funbi is seen on stage crying profusely)
Funbi: Ah God! My life! This is how my anger and inability to control my temper cost me a beautiful relationship of 5 whole years! And I was warned! I saw a dream where my wedding gown was stained! I saw it but I was not spiritually sensitive enough to know that it was my anger! Where do I start from oh God! Where? Ah God! Lord have mercy on me! Lord work in me! Have mercy on me… (she begins to pray and leads the congregation into prayers…)
