Christian Poetry: If Only

If only mother had refused father's necklace maybe Obiageli would have known that gifts doesn't imply love.

If only father had married God's will for him, maybe Samson would have learnt the true meaning of marriage.

If only he had not promised her the moon and the stars, maybe Adanna would not have built a future with him.

If only he had chosen to attend that prayer meeting, maybe Johnson would have met the One her mother told her stories about.

If only she had stood as a watch-woman that she was, maybe the pillars - our daughters would hold forth the buildings.
