PSALMS 46, JOHN 14:27
Peace is an attribute of God that is grossly lacking in our society today. Romans 14:17- peace is one of the cardinal attributes of the kingdom. This peace is not necessarily all about quietness alone as it is a state of complete rest- Matthew 11: 28, Psalm 23. Shalom, God's kind of peace is not tied to external things- it can only be found in Jesus. Peace tied to mundane things can easily be taken advantage of by the Devil and manipulated to put us in distress. We really need to find peace in God. The society has informed us wrongly that peace is only obtainable in death but God assured us peace in this world we live in not just after. The God kind of peace has been left with us, it is ours to take it up in God. Worrying about the things we do not have will not solve the problem. A troubled heart is the opposite of peace according to John 14 :27. Why do we need the peace of God? 1. It helps us to stand and overcome the pressure of the world- John 16:33. 2. Peace is needed to confront and conquer sudden storms of life- Mark 4:35. 3. It is needed for the workings of God- Exodus 14:13, 2 Chronicles 20:17- when we go to rest God goes to work- Acts 12:6. Never let anything define your state of rest, our rest is in God. The key to having the God kind of peace is handing over everything to God. Confession: I choose to be peaceful! I have joy, nothing can steal my joy.
Prayer
God, I hand over all my troubles and challenges to You: take care of all my sorrows and challenges in Jesus' name.
