Some weeks ago I was on my way to work and lots of thought keep coming to my mind and all of a sudden I sighed and said woo nobody can even be trusted or rely on jare and immediately the holy spirit counter me by asking a question WHAT ABOUT GOD? And I'm like God isn't everybody na so I'm not talking about God bla bla and you know holy spirit can be so intentional on teaching he said why did you think no one can be trusted, what happened to the state of your heart that prompt that conclusion, what about the people I've placed in your life, he started mentioning names and how this people I've showed up for me on several times and the only thing I could say is God have mercy, I trust you and I know in as much as human can't be rely on I see only you and rely on you because you are able and abundantly able to cause men to favor me.
As christian the state of our heart reflect our believe system and our believe system unconsciously shape our life's and only God mercy can help us see beyond the veil in the heart and that's why it is easy to forget the faithfulness of God in difficult situation and end up making conclusion that are all just lies feed to us by the devil.
Even the Bible say in the book of Proverbs 23:7a (KJV) "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." and that’s why the devil try so much to first of all break a man at heart and then the state of man heart start to manifest in other areas of his life.
As human, the thoughts of our heart shape the reality of our lives. what we truly believe about ourselves not merely what we say, but what we carry deep within determines how we live, how we relate to God, and how we impact the world around us.
In Scripture, the “heart” is more than just the seat of emotion. It represents the core of a person the inner world of beliefs, desires, motives, and intentions. That's why Proverbs 4:23 “guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” What flows from our lives, our actions, words, and choices originates in the thoughts we harbor within.
Jesus reinforced this when He said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34). Our hearts are not only affected by what we feed them, but they also become the compass by which we navigate life. If our internal compass is misaligned with truth, we will wander from God’s purpose for us.
The enemy understands the power of the heart. This is why one of Satan’s most common tactics is to plant lies in our minds seeds of fear, unworthiness, shame, or doubt. If he can influence how we think about ourselves, he can limit how we live out our faith.
As Christian if we constantly thinks, “I’m not good enough,” “God can’t use me,” or “I’ll never overcome this sin,” we are likely to live in defeat even though we are, in truth, redeemed, empowered, and called by God. The disconnect between our identity in Christ and the beliefs in our heart becomes a spiritual stronghold.
But God calls us to renew our minds:
"Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2 this verse teaches us how to align our inner thoughts with God’s truth, by constantly saturating our hearts with His Word. When we meditate on Scripture, we replace the lies of the enemy with the truth of who we are in Christ:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1)
“Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4)
These are not mere affirmations they are spiritual realities. When we think on these truths and let them sink deep into our hearts, we begin to live them out. Our actions flow from our renewed identity.
In Conclusion, It is easy for the heart to be attacked if the foundation of our believes are not well founded in christ and that's why God instruct us to continually renew our mind with the words of God and that way we continually strength our faith with the knowledge of God’s word.
