22nd August, 1918

While the Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria’s first Aladura Pentecostal body, was formed around this period, historical records mark its formal establishment in 1941. However, the foundational movement led by Joseph Ayo Babalola began in 1918, around August 22 of that year.

22nd August, 1954 

On this day, Pentecostal Evangel honored Carl M. “Daddy” Hanson (1865–1954), a pioneering Pentecostal leader who experienced tongues in the 19th century and shaped early Assemblies of God ministries through the Dakotas district in USA.

22nd August,  1982

On this day in Christian History, Pastor Jerry Uchechukwu Eze, who later founded Streams of Joy International and leads the NSPPD movement was born.

22nd August, 2015 

Dedication of the Vineyard Christian Ministries Headquarters Cathedral in Lagos, seats 7,500, led by Archbishop John Osa-Ani and Bishop Mike Okonkwo  .

The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC), along with the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, commenced a 50‑hour Global Concert of Prayer themed “Fires of Revival” on August 22, 2023, as a build-up to their Madrid congress.
