The Anglican Diocese of Oyo South has inaugurated its newly renovated and furnished bishop's court.
A statement on Friday by the diocese stated that the Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province of the Church of Nigeria, Most Revd Williams Aladekugbe, led other bishops to inaugurate the building on Thursday, as part of activities marking the 60th birthday of the Anglican Bishop of Oyo South, Revd Olufemi Familoni.
According to the statement, the facility was upgraded with modern facilities, with a refurbished chapel, measures aimed at improving sustainability and supporting the administrative and pastoral work of the diocese.
The statement noted that Familoni, who was consecrated and enthroned as the pioneer bishop of the diocese in November 2025, said the upgraded bishop's court would strengthen his episcopal mission and enhance the church's outreach.
"We are only vessels for God's work, and all that we are able to do is for His glory. Our work in this diocese is just beginning, and by God's help, we shall succeed", the statement quoted him to have said.
Earlier, at Familoni's birthday thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of St John, Akinmoorin, in Oyo State, Aladekugbe, who delivered the sermon, urged the bishop to remain steadfast in service to God and to continue to lead with gratitude and obedience.
"The number of heartbeats from the day of your birth to this day is a reminder that God loves and cares for you", the statement quoted Aladekugbe to have said, encouraging the celebrant to remain committed to God's will.
The statement further noted that the thanksgiving service was attended by nine bishops from across the Church of Nigeria, who paid tribute to Familoni, describing him as "generous and committed to the growth of the church."
Speaking alongside his wife, Mrs Modupe Familoni, and other family members, the bishop expressed gratitude to God for his life, strength and recent elevation to the episcopacy, describing the occasion as a moment of reflection and renewed dedication to service.
Born on January 22, 1966 to the family of Pa Gabriel Ibitoye Familoni Dynasty of Ido-Ekiti, Familoni is a cleric and Chartered Human Resources practitioner.
