Anchor University, the faith-based institution owned by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has unveiled a 10-year strategic roadmap aimed at guiding the university’s growth and development from 2026 to 2036.
A major component of the plan is the proposed relocation of the university from its present location in Lagos to its permanent site near the Deeper Life International Conference Centre in Mowe, Ogun State.
The development was announced during the inauguration of the university’s third Governing Council at the institution’s Senate Chambers.
The 10-year roadmap was formulated by the university’s Board of Trustees and is expected to provide a strategic framework for the institution’s next phase of growth.
Anchor University Records Significant Growth
Speaking during the council’s inauguration, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Obinna Nkemjika, said Anchor University had experienced substantial growth in student enrolment and infrastructure over the past five years.
According to him, the university’s student population has increased from approximately 600 students to more than 2,700, following the introduction of additional courses and departments.
Nkemjika said the newly inaugurated Governing Council would be responsible for providing strategic direction and ensuring that the institution’s long-term development plans are effectively implemented.
He urged the council members to work towards the full realisation of the university’s strategic objectives.
Permanent campus in Ogun
The planned relocation to a permanent campus near the Deeper Life International Conference Centre in Mowe is one of the major priorities contained in the 2026–2036 roadmap.
The move represents a significant step in the university’s development, particularly given its history of plans to establish a permanent campus in Ogun State.
Anchor University’s permanent site had previously been earmarked on a large parcel of land belonging to the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in the Maba/Agbodi area of Ogun State. In 2023, the church announced that it was ready to commence the development of the permanent campus after years of legal and possession-related issues concerning the land.
The proposed new location is close to the Deeper Life International Conference Centre in Mowe, further strengthening the relationship between the university and its founding ministry.
New Council Promises Collaboration
The newly inaugurated Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Joel Babalola, said collaboration would be a major priority under the new council.
Babalola said stronger collaboration between students and academic staff could help the university develop innovative solutions to challenges facing Nigeria.
“With collaboration, we’ll be able to create things in Nigeria and solve problems locally,” he said, expressing confidence that the university could achieve its objectives with God’s help.
The development roadmap comes as Anchor University continues to expand its academic programmes, student population and infrastructure.
Founded by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Anchor University is positioned as part of the ministry’s broader commitment to combining academic excellence with Christian values and character development.
With the unveiling of the 2026–2036 strategic roadmap, the institution is now preparing for what could become its most significant phase of expansion yet, including the eventual transition to its permanent Ogun State campus.
