The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has strengthened its global humanitarian outreach through a series of initiatives supporting people living with disabilities in Indonesia, Brazil, Argentina and El Salvador.
The efforts, carried out in partnership with local organizations, reflect the Church’s ongoing commitment to improving mobility, accessibility and quality of life for vulnerable communities through donations of wheelchairs, rehabilitation equipment and specialized support services.
1,500 Wheelchairs Donated in Argentina
One of the largest projects took place in Santa Fe, Argentina, where the Church donated 1,500 wheelchairs and orthopedic devices to CILSA, a nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities.
Volunteers, members of the Argentine Red Cross, military cadets and Church members worked together to unload five shipping containers filled with mobility equipment before distribution to beneficiaries.
Specialized Support in Brazil
In Brazil, the Church partnered with local institutions to provide specialized wheelchairs for children with complex disabilities. The donation is expected to improve mobility, independence and access to education and healthcare for many families.
The initiative builds on several humanitarian projects the Church has undertaken in Brazil this year, including healthcare, education and poverty-relief interventions.
Indonesia and El Salvador Receive Assistance
Humanitarian efforts also reached Indonesia and El Salvador, where the Church collaborated with local disability organizations to provide mobility devices and rehabilitation support tailored to the needs of recipients.
