Popular Gospel minister and worship leader, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey has officially announced a 16-day fasting and prayer programme running from 14th September to September 29, 2026, as the body of Christ prepares for the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge.
The announcement was made via Pastor Bassey's official social media platforms, where he also released an official prayer guide to accompany the fasting period.
This year's edition carries the theme **"The Lord Reigns,"** drawn from Psalm 97:1 — "The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.”
In his announcement, Pastor Bassey urged believers to begin praying ahead of the main event and to share the prayer guide widely with friends and family. He declared that his prayer for this season is that participants would encounter God "like never before," in Jesus' name.
A companion post on the official **@hallelujahchallengelive** Instagram page confirmed that the 16-day fast officially began on its first day at **6:00 PM WAT**, with an invitation extended to those outside the West Africa Time zone to join the fast at 6:00 PM in their own local time zones.
The same platform also announced a live prayer session would hold daily at *m10:00 PM WAT, streamed on Instagram Live via @hallelujahchallengelive, as part of the build-up to the Challenge. Believers were encouraged to spread the word and join in.
## Inside the Prayer Guide
The released guide outlines a structured pattern for each prayer session, recommending **25 minutes praying in spiritual tongues** followed by **35 minutes praying with spiritual understanding**, and organizes intercession around sixteen key thematic points, including:
- **Thanksgiving** for God's faithfulness across every edition of the Hallelujah Challenge since its inception in 2017, and for the salvation of souls through Christ's finished work on the cross.
- **The Blood of Jesus**, pleading it over the entire event, its ministers, and every instrument to be used each night.
- **The Holy Spirit**, asking for a fresh outpouring and the "breath of God" over every song, prayer, and prophetic moment.
- **Mercy**, drawing from several Psalms to ask that God satisfy His people early with mercy and favor.
- **Fire and Healing**, asking for God's fire to fall and His healing stream to flow through each night of the programme.
- **Testimonies and Harvest**, calling forth notable miracles, signs, wonders, deliverances, and a massive harvest of souls.
- **Strength and Protection** for Pastor Nathaniel, his family, his team, and the AskRoom ministry unit, that no scheme or plan against them would stand.
- **Grace and Anointing** for every minister involved, along with a spirit of praise and supplication resting on participants each night.
- **Freedom and New Beginnings**, declaring that every long-standing mountain be moved and that participants step into new seasons of revelation.
- **The Lord's Reign**, closing with thanksgiving in advance for a successful Hallelujah Challenge — its planning and its execution.
