Saved by Nails: Sharing your Salvation Story

There is something about personal stories that makes it get to people. If you can relate to this, you will agree with me that it always works. Imagine trying to motivate someone into starting a project and then you have to share a part of your life’s story, telling how you had similar difficulty but pulled through. In the long run, such individual practically becomes extra interested and willing to embark on the project and when it becomes successful, he is not only grateful for your help, but he is ready to help others. By sharing that story, you have become more than a motivation. You have given a part of you and that is life.

Now, if sharing such story can give so much motivation and inspiration, how much more sharing the story of your salvation?

Saved by Nails: Sharing your Salvation Story

Many have suffered from chronic addiction to bad habits, masturbation, pornography, lies, stealing, corruption, lust and a longer list of terrible sins. You most likely have a past in all or one of these and God has brought you to the fold.  It will be more than fair to help someone get his foot on the right track with God. That is the exact reason for this call.

Why should You Share Your salvation story?

As believers, we have an instruction from Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15 to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” There are many ways and platforms to obey this instruction. The honest truth is that, not everyone would have the platform to hold a microphone before an audience, but we can reach people in the little way we can. This is one reason why your story can transmit that life someone needs. This is just the general reason. You need specific reasons why you should share your salvation story?

1. It makes you become confident in your process.

From personal experience, sharing your salvation story helps you to learn a new side of God. You see a new dimension of his love in helping others come to Him. This builds confidence in yourself and in the One who lives in you. It gives the assurance that you are on the right path in your walk with God and that God is with you. In the same way, you also find fulfillment in helping others know their true identity in Christ.

  • It makes you a source of Blessing

There is great blessing for those who preach the gospel. In Romans 10:15, scriptures say “And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Believe it or not, anyone who reads or hears your story will never forget the good you have done for him/her by leading them to Christ through your story. In the future, they would probably share their salvation story and refer to you, blessing the day they met your story and the life in it.

  • It creates a multiplier effect.

The person who reads your story and gives his life to Christ will someday share his story too. Two multiplied by two equals four, and four multiplied by four gives sixteen. In the same manner, many more are led to Christ. This is the multiplier effect and of course, you know how much joy there is in heaven over every single sinner who repents! (Luke 15:7)

You learn that you are notordinary

Your story is not ordinary. You are not ordinary too. You wield so much power and influence than you can ever imagine. Have you ever wondered by the Bible is so real and powerful to us? It’s because it is the story of God’s love documented and transferred across generations. Your story is just as real as God’s word is real and powerful to you. This is beyond the stories of Abraham, Moses and the experience of men of old. It is your story and God is a part of it.

It forever puts the shame on the devil

In Romans 1:16, there is a confession that “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. This confession through your story means that you are not taking the face of shame. The devil has the shame and he is meant to carry it about.
