5 Essential Character Traits that Defines Christian Conduct

After we are saved from the life of sin and death, we are set on a path of spiritual growth. In this journey of spiritual growth, one important thing to do is to have a good relationship with people. In this way, our conduct helps in the release of our faith. However, what we do doesn't "qualify or disqualifies"  us to receive from God because He isn't angry at us anyway. But God wouldn't be too pleased with our actions if it affects the church as a whole.
Character is a seed. Depending on how it's nurtured, character can be good and beautiful or bad and evil. This is why as believers, it is important to completely yield to the Holy Spirit and allow him grow our hearts right and fix our character crisis.
5 Essential Character Traits that Defines Christian Conduct

The five essential character traits and forces involved in having a good Christian conduct include:

1. Humility

If you would be exalted as a Christian, you have to learn to be humble. "Humility" is not the same as "humiliation". You can be humble but as well, be disciplined enough to have a baseline. If you will remain humble, you must remember where you are coming from, that is, you remember your past not to be condemned, but to aid your advancement in your Christian journey.

1 Timothy 1:12-15

"And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."

Humility in the Christian body also entails readiness to learn. You learn from the person God has placed over you. You are quick to listen but never quick to reply to the ministers God has given you regardless of age, qualifications or personal relationship with such ministers.

2. Obedience

Obedience means hearing God and yielding to His instructions. To know how to hear God, you must hear man well because God's word comes through the Bible or through men He has placed around you. Do not be quick to ask the "why" of rebellion because the progress you make is dependent on the instructions you take. The Bible in Proverbs 6:23 says "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life". Obeying instructions brings wisdom, wealth and fame to the Christian. Proverbs 13:18 also says "Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured."

A person who isn't in the fear of God is not in obedience. Refuse to "understand" people in rebellion and never keep company with disobedient brethrens without correcting them.

3. Honour

Honour fosters love in a relationship. Honour is not in words only but also in actions too. Honour as a Christian should be deliberate and familiarity should be avoided at all cost because familiarity fosters dishonour. All men deserve to be honoured, both brethren and non-brethren because this will strengthen the love walk of the brethren and attract the non-brethren to the love of Christ. The Bible, through Apostle Paul's letters in 1 Peter 2:17 instructs us to honour all men and love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king."

Honour your parents and your masters too. Having the gifts of the spirit is not a platform for you to embarrass them even if you practically know more than they do.

1 Peter 2:18, "Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed."

Ephesians 6:1-2," Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise". Esteem them highly that you may live long.

Honour Ministers of the gospel, it's not any man's duty to condemn any man of God over what they do, they should be held always in the high plane of reverence.

1 Timothy 5:17,"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."

Your Ministers should be joyful when talking about you, not seeing you as a burden and being thankful to God when you decide to leave their ministries or travel somewhere else.

In Hebrews 13:17, Apostle Paul also admonishes us to submit to and obey leaders who have rule in governance because they are watchmen for souls. This in itself is a form of honour for leaders.

Over all, you must honour God because the honour for men could only be showcased if you honour God sincerely.

Proverbs 3:9-10, "Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase; So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."

There is a great reward with having a proper Christian character and not only you, but also unbelievers around you will come to know Chris more if you have a good conduct.
