The Power of United Faith: Gospel Today Devotional - 10th November, 2023

There's more to what two to three persons can do together, isn't it? If it takes a person fourteen days to finish a task, provided that the same energy is put into the task, it will take a much lesser time for two or more persons to complete that task, don't you think? Say six to seven days, and the task will be completed. What does that show to us? That there's more to a group of persons coming together to achieve a common goal than when a person decides to do that alone, isn't it?

The Power of United Faith: Gospel Today Devotional - 10th November, 2023

Let's say for instance, you own an organisation, and you're faced with the responsibility of running the organisation alone without anyone to help. You alone type the documents, arrange the files, balance the accounts, fix meetings, and attend them alone. You are the one who is in charge of every other section in the organisation with no single person to help. Don't you think it will take a longer time for you to get that organization to where it's supposed to be than when you have two or more persons working with you? There's power in unity.

Today, by the grace of God, we shall be considering something very important. That which I believe believers in the body of Christ should take note of, and practice as well. I believe everyone birthed into this divine family should harness this as much as they can, the privilege of joining our faith with others to achieve results. The passage of scripture under consideration is seen below,

"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. [20] For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them". (Matthew 18:19, 20).

This records the words of our Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ; how that emphasis is placed on two or more people praying together in agreement. Please take note that he didn't just say if they gather, he was specific, and gave the conditions for which two or more persons could ask, and make request. First, there has to be an agreement between both parties or more as to why they want to pray, and what they want to pray for. A common goal, and focus. It is as a result of this that their energy will be channeled as one in praying, and the result expected will be seen.

Second of all, he said for where two or three are gathered in his name, there he is in their midst. Really? Does that mean he is not with a single person when he prays? No, not at all. That is not the case. The passage of scripture is to encourage believers that there's result in praying together in unity, and agreeing in faith. It is to show that there's power in united faith, and that as much as we seek to pray alone, there's also the need for us to join our faith in agreement with others as well. Praise God.

Here comes the word of God to you today, that prayer done in agreement amidst two or more believers commands heaven's result. And that as much as we seek to pray, and establish  personal relationships with God, we are not to despise the power that lies in us praying, and agreeing in faith together with other brethren. How I pray that the Lord helps us understand this truth. Amen.

Thought for the day: Do not despise the power that lies in praying, and agreeing in faith with other brethren.
