"And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings". (Leviticus 6:12).
The Lord's delight
Is that the altar may burn
Not once alone,
Not day alone
But night and day;
All day long.
That it may burn
With the fire not quenched
Not its flame taken away
Night and day;
All day long
Is the Lord's command.
Many may say,
"Can it burn all day?
Won't it be out at some point?"
True as it may sound
Still isn't the Lord's command.
It must burn all day long.
Just like it was an instruction
Given to the priests as of old,
So it is today
An instruction given to all
That the fire must burn
All day long.
Burning altars,
So we must be
And that we burn daily
For the Lord,
Never to be put out
Should be our deepest concern.
