Burning Altars by Ude Emmanuel

Burning Altars by Ude Emmanuel

And the altar, isn’t it my life?
And the sacrifice? That also, I am.
LORD, I wait on You for fire,
LORD, I wait on You for You,
It is folly to set myself ablaze;
If I burn through works, I burn in vain,
For I am dead unto me and alive to You.

Now, I burn, by Your Spirit, I burn,
Will I lie still to keep burning?
Stillness belongs to them that are no more,
I have life in that your fire is here,
Will I play the corpse, will I not advance?!
Good LORD, You have ordered,
“Spread my name, spread my Word”

Yet LORD, I am weary:
If I lie still, the fire will go out,
If I runoff, I’ll burn quickly.
I need wood, yes, an abundant supply of wood!
Is it prayer and fasting?
Is it the Word?
Is it fellowship with the brethren?
Is it the desire to know and to do Your will?
Truly, it is all these and even more.
O my being, gather wood!
O my life, burn!
