The truth remains that there's so much evil being perpetrated by people in the world today, and of a truth, one would say it's as a result of the very fact that God is not in the thought of those set of people, and they are yet to receive the life he gives. Also the fact that they have been blinded such that they are unable to see for themselves that which is needed for them to live a life of peace, and good deeds.
There should be no one who would walk in a place where there's no light with a desire to be in such a place for long, right? No one should want to embrace darkness, and feel so much comfortable staying in a dark place. But it is different for those who perpetrate evil. They had rather prefer to stay in that darkness than come into the light that God gives.
Today by the help of God, we shall be considering a very important study that will reveal to you and I the reason why many have decided to, and still embrace darkness. Why men would rather prefer to do evil than do good. The anchor text for today is seen in the passage below,
"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [21] But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God". (John 3:19-21).
First we need to establish the fact that the absence of light is not the issue but then the rejection of the light that has been provided. Jesus in the scripture made it clear that he was the light of the world, and that whoever followed him would have no need to walk in darkness but have the light of life abiding in him (paraphrased, John 8:12).
If he already said that he was the light, and even till now, he is still the light of the world, and the scripture above says the light has come into the world, why then do many still prefer to walk in darkness or do things that are contrary to that which the Lord has planned for all? It is because those who perpetrate evil love darkness rather than light, they would never on their own want to accept the light Christ brings, why? Because they do not want their evil deeds to be exposed since light makes manifest the evil things that are carried out in the dark.
But those who love the truth, and are not perpetrators of evil love the light because they do that which is pleasing in the sight of God, and wouldn't mind of their works were exposed. We are children of light, we have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to that of light, and hence our actions, inactions, must reflect that which is consistent with the light we have received in Christ. Many may love, and perpetrate evil, but we are to walk in the light we have received. The Lord help us in Jesus' name. Amen.
Thought for the day
The reason many love to perpetrate evil is because they love darkness rather than light, and wouldn't want to accept the light so they no longer have to walk in darkness. Do you walk in the light even as he is in the light? Do you love darkness rather than light?
