Popularly known as Phatstrings, Gbenga Akinfenwa is a Nigerian gospel music artiste and minister.

Gbenga Akinfenwa is the Chief Executive Officer and Creative Head of the Awesome Studios. He is also a professional IT Consultant.

Minister Gbenga Akinfenwa has great expertise in music audio recording, film composition and score,sound design, IT consultancy. He holds a BSc in Physics with Electronics from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.

As an IT Consultant, he worked at Unilever Nigeria PLC as an analyst in the Directly consumed Services Department before he fully went into gospel music.

Although he is Yoruba, Gbenga Akinfenwa is happily married to his Igbo wife and heartthrob. They met at the workplace in 2007, started dating in 2009, and officially got married in 2011.

His stage name Phatstrings, was inspired from his background in playing the bass guitar. In an interview with Punch NG, he revealed that at the time, some of his friends called him G-bass or G-strings but he didn't like the latter because it connoted something else so he chose Phatstrings because Phat means something amazing or excellent and then strings are from the guitar so it just stuck.
Minister Gbenga Akinfenwa's journey into gospel music is birthed from his desire to do anything that adds value to the soul. So, he took his relationship with God seriously, determined that he must be able to defend what I'm doing before God. According to him, ''whatever I do must be life-giving, my music inclusive and it is only gospel music I consider life-giving.''
