THE REASON WE WORRY
People worry many times because somehow they cannot seem to understand how a challenging situation can be taken care of. Some people are faced with paying bills that they have no idea when and how they would pay. Some other persons are battling with some kind f sickness that they do not know when it will go away or with what money they would be treated.
Some people are even so much as worried about the food they would eat and the clothes they would wear. It is that serious. The truth however remains that worry does not take away the problem, it only magnifies it. Worry does not give a solution, it only makes one overthink himself with no result. Let's see what the scripture has to say.
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?" (Matthew 6:30)
The Lord Jesus in the book of Matthew exhorts not to be worried about the food to eat or the clothes to wear. It is not that we would not feel hungry nor need clothes but rather to put our trust in God that he would provide that which we need.
If he so feeds the birds of the air and clothes the grass which today is and tomorrow is not, how much more we? Why then do we worry? It is because our faith is little. The Lord Jesus says we are of little faith. Unlike the grass of the field or the birds of the air, we think that by spinning and toiling, we would have our needs met but we are disappointed often because our faith in the one who alone can provide is little.
He says which of us by worrying can add a cubit to his stature. If we cannot do that much by worrying, why then do we worry? It's because our faith is little. Indeed, faith as little as that of a mustard seed can move mountains, but our faith is little here may mean that we worry so much that we forget that God clothes the grass of the field and provides for the birds of the air. If God can do these for them, he can do much more for us. You are to worry no more. The Lord causes his word to dwell richly in our hearts. Amen.
Daily Nugget: Worry is a magnifier with no solution. If God so clothes the grass of the field and provides for the birds of the air, how much more you? Why then do you worry?
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know I have been worried about many things as a result of not trusting you enough to do those things I worry about. I know how you take care of the birds of the air and the grass of the field, please help me not to worry any longer but to put faith in you. Amen.
