Christian Fiction: Undeserving!

He made a poise again as he bent to lift the big pink bag I had left by the road. It had been a long journey indeed. My pink bag lay tattered and full of belongings, falling out from each side. I had been traveling the rickety roads and yet in a rickety car for over a day. My throat had been hurting, my hands felt dry and my face lay cold like a dead fish in an iced lake. The dust that lay on the roads had risen to take shelter on my body clinging to my clothes more than a little child clings to his mother's bosom.

And what had I been traveling for?

I was in search of knowledge, pleasure, and the deep sights that fascinated the human eye. I heard an older man say the land that held all these sights and more laid on the horizon. I got up, determined to get to the end of the horizon where the skies and the land met in a warm embrace, denying height and nature's power. I set out journeying in the most disgusting vehicle; very slow and rickety. After traveling for over seven hours, we encountered a massive flood and had to turn back in search of a better route.

Another 7 hours passed by as we sought a better route. Once we had found one, we journeyed. I had the most awful and mixed adventure for a journey but after what looked like a century, we arrived at a very dusty road by 11PM. On this road, the dust rose to mix with humans and interact with them as fellows.

As I alighted the unfortunate bus, I could barely see past my nose. I dragged my big pink bag across dust and sharp metals. I watched it fall apart gradually without care. I ignored my precious clothes as they fell out to kiss the dusty path. My annoyance and irritation had known no bounds and I wanted to feel just normal.

I had traveled across the country and did not know anyone or even have an acquaintance. As I sat down, face down and probably in tears fighting for who would come out first, I regretted taking the path I had taken. Suddenly, I felt a tap. I looked up and saw a tall, young man with a strong gait and strong arms. He had the finest face and the peace in his eyes made me melt. He offered to help. I tried to dissuade him but I knew I would be lost if I lost the opportunity he was offering.  He knew everything and every place. He gathered my belongings and lifted the bag onto his head. As dust splattered all over him, he kept smiling and encouraging me to follow and not faint. John.14.6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. (AMP)

I kept straddling behind him, with tears in my eyes as I followed. I didn't know this man from anywhere. I was undeserving of all he was doing but I was sure he had it right and together.

He held my hand and as he squeezed it, I had an assurance and I smiled back. This was the true treasure I had set out for. A piece in chaos and assurance beyond what I could naturally comprehend.

Romans 5.6 While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (on behalf of) the ungodly. (AMP)

Rom.5.8 But God shows and proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. (AMP)
