One thing that is common among children in relationships with their parents is that they make requests. If a child wants to get ice cream, for example, he walks to his mum or dad and tells them about it. They, being loving and kind would get him that which indeed he has requested, isn't it?
I have never seen anyone who claims to love his child deny that child that which he asks for provided that such a thing would not be harmful to the child. Even if a father is evil, I doubt if he would ever deny his child that which he asks from him or provide him something that will be harmful if what he asks for is good. Let's see the passage of scripture below,
"If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? [12] Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? [13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" (Luke 11:11-13).
If a father being evil knows how to give good things to his child, how much more God? Let this be a comfort to you; God will never give you anything that will hurt you. If what you ask is not what is best for you, meaning that such a thing would hurt you, he would never give it to you.
This is to say that God is a loving and caring father who would never withhold that which is good from us when we ask of him. Be assured that God will never give you a stone if you ask him for bread neither will he give you a serpent if you ask him for a fish. Would God give you a scorpion for an egg? No, not at all.
Do not be afraid, God in his goodness will never give you what will harm you, and even if in ignorance you have taken what will be of harm to you, in his mercy, he takes it away and gives you what is just best for you. In this, rejoice, that he cares about you so much to give you as you ask of him what is best for you. God bless his word in your heart. Amen.
Thought for the day: God will never give you what will harm you. He will only give you as you ask of him what is best for you because he cares for you.
