Many times, which people do are a result of preconceived thoughts and ideas. That means that they may have thought about that thing in their hearts even before it is seen in their actions. The thought, therefore, is that which births the action. Someone doesn't just steal all of a sudden because he would have done that in his heart even before carrying it out eventually.
Haven't you thought about doing things in your heart, and getting to find out that you did those things just as you had planned in your heart? You have, right? Let's say you want t,o cook for instance, many times, you discover that you cook the meal first in your heart before you do it in the kitchen. You calculate what quantity of ingredients you would use, and what time it will take to prepare the meal. That's just the way it is. So the cooked meal is the finished product or the physical display of what had already taken place in your heart.
If this is the case, then we need to watch carefully that which we allow into our hearts, don't you think? I strongly believe so, why? Because if the heart can accommodate good thoughts, it can also accommodate evil thoughts. Today by the grace of God, we shall be seeing that which the scripture demands of the believer about his heart. The scripture for today study is seen below:
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." (Proverbs 4:23).
You may want to ask why the scripture says to keep your heart with all diligence, don't you? Is it necessary? Yes, it is. As it was stated in the opening paragraphs, many of the actions people take are the result of the preconceived thoughts and ideas in their hearts. What you see is just the physical manifestation of what has been done in the heart. It happens to believers as well. Before one decides to lie, he already told the lie in his heart.
We are to therefore guard our hearts against defiling thoughts. This is because before it becomes an action, one must have thought about it and it's our responsibility as believers to prayerfully, and meditatively keep our hearts against thoughts that contradict the instructions of the Lord. May the Lord help us to guard our hearts diligently at all times. Amen.
Thought for the Day: It is first the thought before the action. You're to guard your heart therefore against any thought that contradicts God's instruction. Guard it with all diligence.
