The question that seems most important in our study today is this, what do you desire? Many people have a desire for many things. Some have a desire for cars, some houses, and some, wealth. How many people desire the sincere word of God? Maybe not many. Let's see the passage of scripture below:
"Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, [2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: [3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious". (1 Peter 2:1-3)
Let's say people do not desire the sincere word of God because they are not of him or because they are not saved. How about those who claim to know him? Aren't they immersed in malice, guile, hypocrisies, and evil speakings? And thus, has refused to grow.
Will newborn babes desire anything other than the milk that comes from the breast of their mothers? No, not at all. This is because they must feed from their mothers if they must grow as expected.
The reason you are not growing in the knowledge of God and the grace of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ may be because you have refused to feed on the sincere milk that comes from the word of God. It may be that your desire is in some other than the word of God. You are to do away with everything that does not allow you to desire the sincere milk of God's word so that you may grow in him as you ought. The Lord causes you to understand his word. Amen.
Thought for the Day: if so be that you have tasted that the Lord is gracious, you are to lay aside everything that hinders your growth as a believer, and just like a newborn babe would, you should desire the sincere milk of God's word that you may grow thereby.
