How the Spirit of Faith Works

The Bible, in Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Therefore, it entails that faith is an explosive force of victory. The disposition of your faith is what births answers that shakes the world and its sectors.

However, it is necessary to note that the different expressions of faith are not equal to the "size" of your faith, therefore, let no man use their measure of "faithometer" to limit you.

Engaging the spirit of faith in all you do as a believer involves how you can keep churning out results and raising the banner of excellence in whatever sector you have found yourself in. Every believer has been saved by their faith but you must work out your faith. This doesn't mean that your works give you faith but instead, your works open up the hearts of men to listen to you when you speak about your faith because the revival we always pray for in our workplace and marketplaces takes on the garment of EXCELLENCE which is dependent on your works.

The word of faith is usually taught but the spirit of faith must be caught if you will walk in faith. 2 Corinthians 4:13 tells us where to catch the spirit from, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak." The faith we must catch has been written in the scriptures in the exemplary lifestyle of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah and every patriarch mentioned in Hebrews 11.

How to Catch The Spirit of Faith

Since we cannot physically meet these patriarchs, how can we catch the spirit of faith by which they lived?

1. The Bible

Faith cannot be caught by willpower or intellectual prowess. It needs a raw material which is the word of God. The word of God must move from a place of being revelation light to being your life.

When you face your challenges with the word, every challenge you face becomes a stepping stone to your next level because the spirit of faith rests on you when you choose to stand on God's word and depend totally on God.

2. Wise Association

Proverbs 27:17 emphasises the importance of a good friend. It says, "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

In times of tribulation, setbacks and tests, the type of friend you keep around you determines if your faith will get stronger or be weakened.

As a Christian, learn how to surround yourself with people who will hold up your hands in victory by the word whenever you face issues in life. Have friends and associations that will pray for you, exhort you and intercede on your behalf (Hebrews 3:13); friends who only know how to shout and gallivant around are not what you should keep around as a believer.

3. The man of God.

The place of your pastor cannot be overemphasised in ensuring that you catch the spirit of faith. Your character is just not enough capital to carry you through the gates of destiny. There has to be a man who has been ordained for your destiny by God that you must follow with all your heart.

A very good example was seen in Exodus 17:8-13, Joshua knew all the battle strategies, and had all the best men but his victory lay in the hands of the prophet. As a believer, you cannot afford to live your life like a dress rehearsal, you must have a man of God whom you can run to and who will be ready to bear you up on their shoulders as their own. This way, just as Joshua had victory over his adversaries through the help of his prophet, you can also experience victory and giant accomplishments by having a pastor or prophet who will stand in the gap for you, strengthening your faith.
