How to study the Bible effectively

In Joshua 1:8(NLT): Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

As a believer you cannot do without studying the word, embedded in it is is power to transform us from inside out. We must set aside time each day to study our Bibles and meditate on the words in it. A lot of people do not have Bible study for a lack of how to go about it. Today I will share some useful tips that are sure to change your Bible Study life around.

The first thing is to have a specific time, that helps you to discipline yourself to have a a specific time assigned to reading the word. It should be your most productive time of the day. Also a time when distractions are at the least, ensure that you have the time to yourself to proper study.

The second thing is to have a plan, know what portion of the scripture you are reading, not that you will just open any portion and just read. You can decide to do a topical study or a character study or read the Bible from the old testament to the new testament but its important to have a plan.

The next thing is to use a translation that works for you, a translation that you understand , that is easy for you to comprehend so you can get the main gist of what the scripture is saying.

It is also important to have a bible concordance that explains every chapter in details. I highly recommend Strong’s bible concordance.

The last but certainly not least is prayer, prayer is one of the most effective tools. It is important to pray and invite the Holy Spirit to teach you the scripture so you wont just read it with your physical senses. There is more to scripture than meets the eyes.

Bible study is such an interesting thing, the word of God is very instructive and transformative. I pray that as you begin to use these tips your Bible study time would he a time of fellowship and intimacy with God.
