To delight in something or someone may mean to find great satisfaction or pleasure in that particular thing or person. While we may delight in many things, our delight as believers must be in nothing else but the law of the Lord. Let's see from scripture what great benefit we have when we delight in the law of the Lord. Let's study the passage of scripture below:
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. [3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. [4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. [5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. [6] For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish".( Psalm 1:1-6)
It is first important to note that the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of the scornful is blessed.
If there is a man who does not do this, it means such a one delights in the law of the Lord and not just that, but meditates on it day and night as well. This is because it takes a man who delights and meditates in the law of the Lord to shun ungodliness and the conditions listed above.
Such a man is blessed who delights in the law of the Lord. Scripture says he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth fruit in its season, his leaf shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. We can not deceive God, friends. He knows the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Are you righteous? Does your way please the Lord? Do you stand in the way of sinners, walk in the counsel of the ungodly? Is your delight in the law of the Lord? Do you meditate on it? Ponder these things. The Lord causes this teaching to bless your heart. Amen.
