Christian Poetry: Unashamed of the Gospel by Iheme Favour Chioma

Who will believe my report?
To whom has the arm of the Lord revealed?
Who can save me from my nakedness!?

For my bones were full of the sin of my youth,
In my mouth, there was no truth
For sin had decayed my root.

Yet in iniquities, I continued to wallow
My understanding of salvation so shallow
But the magnitude of his mercies does hollow.

Eternal life I resisted
In my darkness I persisted,
Yet his mercies insisted!

Embracing salvation was a real hassle.
But the Father’s mercy was so great in my vessel
Till all my muscles grew weak to wrestle.

The gospel He made known to human race
That all who believe might receive grace
Of salvation which I did embrace.

But what is salvation without the gospel?
And the gospel without the Messiah?
And the Messiah without the crucifixion?

Now, I’ve gained freedom from all troubles
For daily his love and mercy surely doubles
In holiness and righteousness my life bubbles!

Now, I am unashamed of the gospel of Christ,
For it is the power of God unto salvation
To all believers across the nation.

On the mountain tops, I’ll exclaim!
The gospel of Christ I’ll proclaim
For eternal life, Christ did reclaim.

For He took my shame and gave me His fame
He took my disgrace and made me His grace
He took my story and made me His glory

By covenant, I became His delight
Called out of darkness into His light
Shining forth His glory so bright.

For this cause, I must not cease
But boldly proclaim with ease
That the gospel of Christ be on increase.

This truth I will not hide away
Or fear what men will say
And for persecutions, I’ll not delay.

Woe is me if I am ashamed
For by the gospel, I’m transformed
And until all nations are restored
I will not be satisfied!
