How to Heal From Spiritual Blindness

 Spiritual blindness is a state of being unable to see or understand spiritual things. It can happen when someone is closed off to the spiritual realm or lacks the ability to perceive spiritual truths. Spiritual blindness can happen for a variety of reasons , including sin, unbelief, pride, rebellion, fear demonic attacks, lack of spiritual maturity or growth. It can also be caused by living in a world that is constantly distracting you from spiritual things. Spiritual blindness is a serious issue that can prevent you from growing in your relationship with God. Spiritual blindness is a spiritual condition where a person fails to understand and spiritually discern between good and evil. Spiritually blinded people cannot understand or receive the gospel 

We are all born into a state of blindness because of our sin. Ever since Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden ,every human being has been born spiritually blind. Our human sin soaked nature blinds our eyes and leaves us in utter darkness. Jesus, the son of God has opened our eyes to the truth of who he is, that whosoever that believes in him would be brought out of this state of spiritual blindness and receive light. This is as a result of the redemption of our sins that happened at the cross of Calvary. Adam and Eve's sin blinded mankind's spiritual eyes to God's presence and that is why Jesus Christ came as God's peace offering and a way of reconciliation back with God. 

People become spiritually blind when they decide to live their life without the presence and influence of Jesus Christ in every area of their life. Jesus Christ has presented himself as the light of the world and that without him, we will walk in darkness. Therefore , we come to the realization that Jesus Christ is the cure to spiritual blindness. He is the only one that can remove our spiritual blindness. We must however choose to seek a relationship with him. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, " The person without the spirit does not accept the things that come from the spirit of God but considers them foolishness , and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the spirit ". 

What happens when you are spiritually blind?

1. There is a lack of desire for God and his word.

2. Spiritual bondage and oppression

3. Your life is void of joy and peace 

4. There is a struggle to make wise decisions, since you are not seeing clearly.

5. There is a struggle with anxiety and depression

6. There is vulnerability to spiritual attacks from the enemy.

7. When you are spiritually blind, you will miss out on God's blessings for your life.

8. Your life is filled with fear and you lose out on God's promises for your life.

9. You will might struggle with sin and temptation.

Here are a few ways to heal from spiritual blindness;

1. Develop your ability to see and hear from God

This act allows you to focus and tune in to God's voice. Ask God to open your eyes. It is a process of spiritual transformation and this is described in Romans 12:2, which says, " Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will able to test and approve what God's will is - his good , pleasing and perfect will." This verse tells that in order to see and hear God clearly ,we need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds 

2. Immerse yourself in the word of God 

As you read, study and meditate on the bible, your eyes is opened to the truths and wisdom of God. The bible is a powerful tool we have for renewing our minds and gaining spiritual insights.

3. Prayer is a powerful tool that can help you heal from spiritual blindness 

When you pray, be specific and honest with God about the areas in your life that you are struggling with and that may be causing spiritual blindness 

4. Desire God with all your heart 

When you truly begin to desire God, you'll begin to see and hear him clearly. Psalm 27:4 says, " One thing have I asked of the lord, that will I seek after : that I may dwell in the house of God all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the lord nd to inquire in his temple." An earnest desire for God will break the walls of spiritual blindness and will lead to a deeper relationship with God and also a greater understanding of his will for our lives.

4. Seek spiritual growth 

Spiritual growth is a lifelong process that requires cultivating a relationship with God. It depends on the study and application of God's word to your life and circumstances.

5. Turn away from sin and unrepentance 

Turning away from sin is an important part of healing from spiritual blindness. Unrepentant sin blocks our relationship with God and can lead to spiritual blindness. But when you turn away from sin, and seek God's forgiveness , your spiritual eyes will be opened and you will experience restoration. This process involves confession of sin and a change of heart for good. Turn towards God and the veil of spiritual blindness would be removed from your eyes. 

6. Submit to God's authority and will

7. Seek to live a holy and pure life as spiritual blindness can make it's way back into your life if you do not stay away from sin.

2 Corinthians 3:16 says, " But whenever someone turns to the lord, the veil is taken away ". People that are under the control of darkness must come to the light of God. Spiritual blindness is the devil's scheme to keep people from God's light 

Remember that healing is a process, and it may take time. But if you stay focused on God and seek his help ,you will experience freedom from spiritual blindness. To heal from spiritual blindness , you need to stop believing the lies of the devil, find truth in God's word and apply that truth to your life. Spiritual blindness leads to all forms of evil. All forms of uncleanliness such as idolatry, adultery, fornication, lying, stealing, greed, backbiting and bearing false witness. Being spiritually blind gives birth to destruction. Holding unto Jesus gives you the alertness you need spiritually. Spiritual blindness brings confusion into a man's life. Just like king Solomon in the bible, due to his love for foreign women ,he disobeyed God and the spirit of God departed from him. The main aim of the devil is to make believers spiritually blind. 

A believer can lose the power of the holy spirit when he gives sin a chance and he then becomes spiritually blind. Those who are spiritually blind cannot decipher when the devil and his demons will gain entry into their lives. When they gain access, humans are bound to start acting abnormally and irrationally because the devil and his agents are now in charge of their lives. We can protect ourselves against spiritual blindness by having faith in God. Faith keeps us from being spiritually blind. 

It is important for you to attend churches and fellowships that are deeply rooted in the word of God so that you are not drawn into the pit of chaos and confusion because the blind cannot lead the blind. Also ask for the direction of the holy spirit to lead you in everything that you do.
