How to Prepare for Rural Rugged Evangelism (Village Missions)

God's instruction to us as believers is to preach the gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth.

To be a disciple of Jesus is to make disciples of Jesus - David Platt

Missions isn’t just an activity or what we do during college or at a certain stage of our lives. It is a commitment for a lifetime; a lifetime commitment to the commandment of Christ to go and make disciples of all nations

Rural Rugged

1. Prepare Spiritually

This is first and most important of all preparations.

2. Prepare Financially

There is a popular Yoruba saying that “Owo ni keke Iyin rere” which literally translates to mean “Money is the vehicle for evangelism”

3. Prepare Materially

Usually, during village outreaches, it is important to give material gifts to the villagers

4. Healthcare

It is important that you consider the health conditions of the evangelists and as well, the villagers

5. Transportation

You don’t want to be stranded in an unknown land

6. Prepare for Security

There’s this popular quote by Paul Borthwick that says that “The Great Commission will not be accomplished by those for whom safety is a concern”. While this is absolutely true especially as concerns leaving your comfort zone for the gospel, it is important to prepare adequately for your safety and security. - Paul Borthwick

Conclusion

To be honest, the only, most important guarantee you must have when going for missions and evangelism is the backing of God. While it’s excellent to prepare ahead, your preparations will be futility if it’s not backed by God.
