Love: Why Your Feelings Must Bow Before God

Love, they say, is a beautiful thing, but the most beautiful thing about love is “God is Love”. This means all that God is and all He does is from a standpoint of love. Amazing right? I know.

As creations of God in His image and likeness, we also have the ability to love and to be loved but our feelings and emotions can be limited. 

The dictionary defines love in so many ways but the most common definition is 'Love is a strong feeling of likeness and affection for someone or something.' Likeness, affection, attraction, passion, delightfulness, and so on are synonymous to love but let's see what love is in our own culture, I mean God's kind of love.

Love is first God, meaning the Father embodies and personalises love both in person and in character. 

Love is unconditional. It has no strings attached to it. You just love others not for the good they are but because you know and perceive their value from God's eye. Love is obedience to God in faith. Obedience to His Word(instructions, precepts, tenets, dictates etc). Truthfully, faith works by love. Galatians 5:6 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Love is one of our driving force in the Kingdom as faith is.

The 13th chapter of the first letter Apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth says a lot about LOVE. 

You see when the Scripture says love is the fulfilling of the law in Romans 13 at verse 10 - "Love does no wrong to anyone's neighbour (it never hurts anybody). Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the law." AMP version, it simply means the whole over 600 Mosaic laws can only be fulfilled by love as one's anchor. 

Our feelings in the flesh has to give way. Why, you may ask? Because our feelings are limited and conditional. God's kind of love is without prejudice and discrimination. That's why our feelings need to give way so we can embrace and express Love - God. 

All through Scriptures we see God's love on the show right from the beginning - Genesis to the end - Revelation. One beautiful thing about God's love is it is UNCONDITIONAL. Like, He doesn't need a reason to love us, He just does and this understanding beets my imagination and it just intoxicates anyone who comes to this understanding.
