The story of Abram in the Bible is a powerful journey of faith. But before that journey took off, it all started with a call — a call from God to leave everything familiar: his native country, his relatives, and his father's family. God asked him to step into the unknown, to go to a land He would show him. That first step Abram took was truly a step of faith.
It wasn’t a small thing. Leaving the comfort of your home, your family, and everything you know isn’t easy. Yet Abram chose to obey. He left it all behind, trusting in God's promise, even though he hadn't seen the full picture. His decision was driven by faith — by simple trust and belief that God would do what He said.
In many ways, Abram’s story mirrors our own. When we give our lives to Christ, we are also called. Not necessarily to leave our countries or families behind, but to step away from the ways of the world — from a system that doesn't align with God's standards, a world where sin and corruption are often seen as normal.
Like Abram, we make a decision: to leave the old behind and follow Christ. Leaving the "world" here doesn’t mean dying; it means making a conscious choice not to live by the world’s standards, but by God's. It’s a turning point where we move from being slaves to sin to becoming servants of righteousness (Romans 6:16). In Christ, we find a new way to live — a better way.
Faith is what fuels this journey. You can't truly believe someone you don't trust. Abram trusted God, and because of that trust, Scripture says, "Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith" (Genesis 15:6).
We walk the same path today. Even though we can’t see God with our physical eyes, when we surrender our lives to Christ, we believe — deep in our hearts — that He is real. We trust that we have been called out of darkness and brought into the kingdom of God's dear Son (Colossians 1:13).
It's by faith that we hold on to God's promises. It's by faith that we are assured of our salvation.
At the core, our Christian journey begins with a simple step of faith. And as we keep moving forward — taking baby steps, then giant strides — we fix our eyes on the throne. No matter what challenges come our way, we’ve made our decision: we are following Jesus.
Sure, the world will offer many things to try to pull us back. And yes, technically, we could choose to turn around. But we are convinced — fully convinced — that Christ is the only way. Nothing the world offers can compare to the reward we have in Him: eternal life.
So we press on, with our hearts set on Jesus, and our faith firm in His promises.
