The Bible is a complete book that addresses all life issues but easy to missed out so many of the important life changing lessons imbedded in it.
One of the most overlook lesson is the miracle that happened in the life of Brother Malchus (john 18:10). Though the name Malchus was only mentioned one time in the bible yet there are so many lessons we can learn from that event.
In this article are 5 lessons from the life of Malchus.
1. As christian we aren't just supposed to care about only the people who are good or nice to us, we are to show christ characteristics in us both to friends and enemies. despite the fact that Malchus is part of the group of soldiers who were sent to arrest jesus, he still extend healing to him regardless of his opposition to him.
2. As christian we are called to respond with peace not aggression in the face of injustice. Even though to some extent we can agree that what peter did was out of defense yet jesus still rebuked him for acting on impulse and responding with violence.
3. Jesus restoration of Malchus ear is a miracles and miracle is a witness of the powerfulness of God and enough reason to change a man heart .
4. Another lesson to learn is Jesus ability to stay calm and collected in the face of betrayal. Many of us can relate to the pain of betrayal, especially from those we've mentored, loved, and trusted. Yet, Jesus chose obedience over bitterness. His example challenges us to stay anchored in purpose even when our hearts are broken.
5. Lastly the story of Malchus teaches us that no moments or no person is too small, dirty to encounter the saving grace of God's mercy, power and grace. Malchus was just a servant his name barely mentioned, his role minor. Yet, Jesus stopped everything to heal him. This teaches us that no one is too small, dirty, or far gone to experience God’s grace. Whether you're a servant, a soldier, or a sinner, God's mercy is always within reach. Every encounter with Jesus has the potential to become a turning point.
In conclusion, the story reminds us that even the most unexpected people in the most unlikely moments can become vessels of divine revelation. Because like Malchus, we all stand in need of a touch from the Master.
