June 17, 1703

On this day in Christian History, John Wesley was born in Epworth, England, John Wesley was an Anglican cleric and theologian who, along with his brother Charles, founded Methodism. His methodical approach to study, prayer, and preaching led to the formation of the Methodist movement, which had a profound impact on Christianity, especially in England and the United States.


June 17, 1859

On this day in Christian History, Wilbur Chapman was born in Richmond, Indiana, Wilbur Chapman was a Presbyterian evangelist and pastor. He was instrumental in organizing and leading evangelistic campaigns and served as the first director of the Winona Lake Bible Conference. Chapman also authored several hymns, including "One Day" and "Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners."
