Saint Alban, recognized as the first Christian martyr in Britain, was executed for sheltering a Christian priest and converting to Christianity himself. 


June 22, 1714

Welsh minister and author Matthew Henry, renowned for his comprehensive Bible commentary, passed away.


June 22, 1750

Influential preacher Jonathan Edwards was dismissed from his pastorate in Northampton, Massachusetts, due to disputes over church membership requirements.


June 22, 1860

Vishnu Bhaskar Karmarkar, a convert from Hinduism, was ordained as pastor of the second Church of Ahmednagar, becoming a notable evangelist, especially among Muslims. 


June 22, 1891

Lim Ang was baptized in Formosa (now Taiwan). Despite losing his sight, he became a beloved preacher after learning to read Braille and teaching at the Presbyterian mission's blind school.
