The Pentecostal Evangel featured an article titled “Teen Challenge on the Move”, highlighting the expansion of the Teen Challenge substance‑abuse recovery ministry with new centers in Denver and Puerto Rico, USA marking 12 established centers worldwide by that date.

27th August, 1981

On this day in Christian History, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey was born in Somolu Local Government Area, Lagos, Nigeria where he also grew up. He hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo local government area in Akwa-Ibom  State, South-South Nigeria. His father, Elder E. Joshua Bassey, was a music instrumentalist (trumpeter) and minister in The Apostolic Church, Bashua Assembly and from an early age he helped his son, Pastor Nathaniel, to develop a love for both music and the gospel. On this day, the 25th Pentecostal World Conference (Calgary, Canada) took place. This major global gathering of Spirit‑filled believers themed “Spirit Now”, aimed for renewal, unity, and Holy Spirit revival across denominations.

On this day, Greater Evangelism World Crusade (Nigeria) held a foundation laying ceremony at Nonwa and a convocation for Apostle G.D. Numbere Bible College as part of their 50th Jubilee celebrations.

On this day, Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch, Philippines) celebrated its 50th anniversary at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac, with a reported attendance of over 42,000 members and around 3,000 ministers.
