Gospel Music Artiste, Taiwo Adegbodu of Adegbodu twins dies

The gospel music community in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular gospel artiste, Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the renowned Adegbodu Twins.

The sad news was announced on Sunday, 1st March, 2026, by his twin brother and music partner, Kehinde Adegbodu, via a post on social media.

Expressing his grief, Kehinde lamented the loss of his brother and ministry partner, describing the development as unbearable.

He wrote, "Taiwo, why did you leave me and your children without notification? My heart is bleeding. Lord, how do you want me to cope without him? God, why? This is too much for me to bear."

The Adegbodu Twins were widely known for their energetic worship ministrations, unique twin-stage performances, and impactful gospel music that resonated with churches and Christian gatherings, particularly in the South-West.

Their inspiring songs and live ministrations earned them a loyal following within gospel music circles.

As regards the cause of Taiwo Adegbodu’s death, his twin brother, Kehinde, while narrating the tragic incident to a group of visitors at their residence in Ibadan, stated that Taiwo was never sick. Describing their final hours together before the sad incident, Kehinde revealed that Taiwo died from a heart attack some minutes after complaining of chest pain.

About one week after the initial announcement, while speaking in a viral video on social media, he explained “we went to our separate rooms after our every night routine prayers at 9:00PM (WAT) on Saturday, 28th February, 2026.

He came to knock at my door at about 10:55PM that he was having chest pains, and I drove him to the hospital immediately and he died a few minutes later.

He was never sick.”
