Rainstorm Wrecks Havoc on Church in Ore

A heavy rainstorm yesterday Monday, 9th March, 2026, caused significant damage to Peculiar Grace Church located along the Old Benin Road in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The downpour, which occurred during a stormy rainfall around 6:00PM (WAT) reportedly tore off parts of the church roof and destroyed several sections of the building.

Eyewitnesses in the area said the rainstorm was accompanied by strong winds that swept through the area, damaging rooftops and other structures in the vicinity.

"The violent wind began shortly after the rain started, forcing many people to rush indoors for safety as debris and roofing sheets were blown across the area," one of the eyewitnesses said.

A member of the church, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the incident caused extensive damage to the worship centre, including the roof and some interior fittings.

According to him, "The destruction will temporarily disrupt church programmes, as the building may require urgent repairs before regular services can resume."

Passers-by visited the scene and sympathised with the church leadership and members, describing the incident as unfortunate.
