Christian Poetry: Sex is not a Sin

As an editorial note, the Christian Poem you’re about to read is best engaged, and performed as Spoken Word Poetry. Kindly enjoy.

[Soft. Calm. Almost conversational.]

Be fruitful…

(pause)

Multiply…

(pause)

Replenish.

[Gentle but grounded.]

Those were the words of a Father—

Merciful.

Gracious.

Intentional.

[Slightly reflective.]

But they told us sex is dirty…

So we whispered desire like a crime.

(short pause)

Hushed our bodies in church pews…

And learned shame

Before we learned truth.

[Pause. Look into the camera.]

But listen.

[Firm. Clear. Slower.]

Sex is not a sin.

(beat)

Disobedience is.

Distortion is.

Doing God’s gift

Without God’s order is.

[Measured teaching tone.]

Because the same God who said

“Flee fornication”

(pause)

Is the God who said

“Be fruitful and multiply.”

[Warm. Affirming.]

He created nerves that feel…

Hormones that respond…

Bodies that long…

And He called it

very good.

[Confident. Slight rise in intensity.]

So no

Sex did not fall with man.

(pause)

Sex did not come from the devil.

(pause)

Sex was not invented by culture.

(slow, weighty)

Sex was authored by God.

[Reflective. Slightly slower.]

What fell…

Was discipline.

What broke…

Was boundaries.

What got twisted…

Was timing.

[Illustrative. Calm authority.]

Sex is fire.

In the fireplace

It warms a home.

(pause)

On the carpet

It burns it down.

[Teach, don’t shout.]

So the issue was never the fire…

(pause)

It was the placement.

[Gentle emphasis.]

Because fire can be a good servant

And equally…

A dangerous master.

[Soft, reassuring.]

Purity is not pretending you don’t feel.

(pause)

Purity is feeling deeply…

And choosing obedience anyway.

[Normalize humanity.]

Having feelings isn’t wrong.

(pause)

But letting feelings lead

Is.

[Clear. Instructive.]

It’s not about ignorance…

It’s about governance.

[Calm conviction.]

Because holiness is not repression

(pause)

It’s direction.

[Warm. Almost smiling.]

God did not say “don’t”

Because He hates pleasure.

(pause)

He said “wait”

Because He protects purpose.

[Reverent.]

And marriage is not a prison for desire…

(pause)

It is the altar

Where desire becomes worship.

[Slow. Pastoral tone.]

So to the one drowning in guilt

(pause)

You are not dirty…

You were taught wrong.

[Compassion.]

To the one fighting urges

You are not weak…

You are human.

[Encouraging.]

And to the one waiting

You are not missing out…

You are being prepared.

[Firm, but gentle.]

Sex is not a sin.

(pause)

But sin…

Is taking sacred things casually.

[Reverent. Slow.]

And purity is not about fear…

It is about reverence.

[Closing charge—steady, calm.]

So guard your body.

Honor your timing.

Trust God’s design.

[Final lines—slow, intentional.]

Because what God calls holy…

(pause)

Should never be handled cheaply.

[Soft. Assured. Ending.]

Sex is not a sin.

It is a gift

Wrapped in covenant…

Released in time…

And enjoyed

Without shame.
