Final farewell activities for Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun, the seventh President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas, kick off this week in Ibadan, Oyo State, ahead of his interment on Friday.
Pastor Akinosun led the church from 2012 to 2020 and died on March 22, 2026, at age 81, after a lifetime of ministry service.
The burial schedule released by church authorities opens Tuesday, June 16, with an Evening of Hymns and Testimonies at his Akobo, Ibadan residence. A Service of Songs follows Wednesday, June 17, at CAC All Saints’ Chapel in Bashorun. The Christian Wake-Keeping is set for Thursday, June 18, at his home in the Airport area of Ibadan.
The week culminates Friday, June 19, with interment at 10 a.m. at his residence, an Outing Service afterward at All Saints’ Chapel, and a reception at the Ibadan Civic Centre.
Born February 27, 1945, Pastor Akinosun trained as a plumber before answering the call to ministry in 1972. He studied at the CAC Bible Training College and later abroad in West Germany, Sweden, and Belgium, earning a Biblical Studies degree from the Continental Theological Seminary. Ordained in 1981, he rose through roles including seminary lecturer, District Superintendent, and General Superintendent before becoming Church President.
He authored twelve books on Christian faith and ministry, was honored with the Justice of the Peace title by the Osun State Government in 2002, and chaired the Christian Association of Nigeria’s Osun State chapter from 2002 to 2010. As burial week begins, tributes continue for a leader remembered for his humility and decades of service to the church.
