The Christian community in Nigeria is mourning the passing of Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, former Chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel and Founder of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM).
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) described the late cleric as a devoted servant of God whose lifelong contributions to the Church and the nation will continue to inspire generations.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, extended heartfelt sympathies to Rev. Okoye’s wife, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship Mission, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the wider Christian community.
According to Okoh, Rev. Okoye dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, mentoring leaders, and fostering unity within the Body of Christ. He also highlighted the late minister’s distinguished service as Chairman of CAN’s Federal Capital Territory chapter, Chairman of the PFN FCT chapter, and later as CAN’s National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
Beyond church leadership, Rev. Okoye served in several national capacities, including as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference, and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. He also served as Chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel under the administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, ministering to the Christian community within the Presidential Villa.
Remembering the late cleric, Archbishop Okoh described him as a humble and wise leader whose counsel, calm disposition, and unwavering commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom earned him respect across denominational lines.
“His counsel, calm disposition, and passion for advancing God’s Kingdom will be greatly missed,” the CAN President said.
President Bola Tinubu also paid tribute to Rev. Okoye, describing him as a man of deep faith and principle whose ministry extended beyond the pulpit into national service. The President praised his advocacy for unity, patriotism, and moral leadership, while praying for God’s comfort upon his family and all who mourn his passing.
Tributes have continued to pour in from Christian leaders, political figures, and members of the public, reflecting the enduring impact of Rev. William Okoye’s ministry and decades of faithful service to both the Church and Nigeria.
