Glorious Vision University Produces First PhD Graduates in Accounting

Glorious Vision University (GVU), Ogwa, owned by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, has recorded a significant academic milestone with the emergence of the pioneer Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates from its Department of Accounting and Finance.

The landmark achievement was recorded on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, when three doctoral candidates successfully defended their PhD theses before an academic panel, becoming the department’s first-ever PhD graduates.


The successful scholars are:


* Dr. Ibifunmilola Michael

* Dr. Edosa Monday

* Pastor Dr. James Ukwa Okeke


Their successful defence marks a historic moment for the Department of Accounting and Finance under the College of Management and Social Sciences, highlighting the university’s continued growth in postgraduate education, advanced research, and academic excellence.


In a statement, the university management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ezekiel Shegun Asemah, congratulated the new doctoral graduates on their achievement, describing it as a reflection of their dedication, resilience, and commitment to scholarly excellence.


The management also noted that the milestone demonstrates the quality of academic mentorship and the robust research culture being cultivated within the College of Management and Social Sciences.

Glorious Vision University celebrated the achievement as another step in its mission to raise highly skilled professionals and researchers capable of contributing to national development through innovation, teaching, and impactful research.
