Nigerian minister and human rights advocate Rev. Ezekiel Bwede Dachomo has been recognised at the 2026 U.S.–Nigeria Faith Heroes Awards, joining a distinguished list of honourees that included U.S. President Donald Trump, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and Bishop David Oyedepo, each acknowledged in different award categories for their respective contributions to faith, leadership, and humanitarian impact.
The awards ceremony, organised by the Save Nigeria Group USA in collaboration with the U.S.–Nigeria Civil Society Coalition, celebrated individuals whose work has advanced religious freedom, humanitarian service, peacebuilding, and the defence of vulnerable communities.
Rev. Dachomo, who serves as Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Barkin Ladi District in Plateau State, received the “Voice of the Persecuted and Community Defender” award. Organisers said the honour recognises his consistent advocacy for victims of violence, his humanitarian outreach, and his efforts to amplify the voices of persecuted Christian communities, particularly in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
For years, Dachomo has remained a prominent voice on issues of insecurity and religious persecution, documenting attacks, supporting displaced and bereaved families, and calling for stronger protection of vulnerable communities. His work has drawn attention from both national and international stakeholders concerned about the humanitarian impact of violence in parts of Nigeria.

Other recipients at the event were recognised for different areas of influence. U.S. President Donald Trump received the Faith Defender Award, while Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo were honoured for their enduring contributions to Christian leadership and global ministry. During the ceremony, several faith leaders also renewed calls for stronger international collaboration to address terrorism, insecurity, and religious persecution in Nigeria.
The event brought together faith leaders, policymakers, members of the Nigerian diaspora, and human rights advocates to discuss practical steps toward promoting peace, protecting religious liberty, and supporting communities affected by conflict.
Rev. Dachomo’s recognition underscores the growing international awareness of the challenges facing persecuted Christian communities in Nigeria and highlights the important role faith leaders continue to play in advocating for justice, compassion, reconciliation, and hope.
