Nigerian philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, Pastor (Mrs) Esther Tonlagha, has been recognised among the 2026 Top 100 Reputable Women of African Descent for her contributions to humanitarian service and community development.
Tonlagha received the recognition at the Africa Women Summit United Kingdom Conference 2026, held on Saturday at the Hilton Croydon in the United Kingdom.
The conference, themed “Her Power, Her Purpose, Her Platform,” brought together women leaders, partners and other stakeholders to discuss issues surrounding women’s leadership, empowerment, purpose and social impact. Tonlagha also participated in the event as a panel speaker.
In her acceptance speech, the philanthropist described the honour as more than a personal achievement, noting that it reflected the collective efforts of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, its volunteers, partners and supporters.
“On behalf of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, I am deeply honoured to receive this award for Humanitarian Service in Nigeria,” she said.
Tonlagha said the foundation was established on the belief that vulnerable people deserve opportunities to live with dignity, hope and the prospect of a better future.
According to her, the organisation’s humanitarian interventions have focused on empowerment, education, healthcare, community development and humanitarian assistance, with the aim of creating meaningful and sustainable change in communities.
She expressed optimism that the international recognition would further strengthen her commitment to expanding humanitarian interventions and reaching more people in need.
Tonlagha’s participation at the UK conference also provided an international platform for her to contribute to conversations around women’s leadership, purpose and the effective use of influence and platforms to drive social change.
The recognition comes as the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation continues to position humanitarian service and community development at the centre of its activities.
Tonlagha expressed appreciation to the organisers of the Africa Women Summit for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting vulnerable people and contributing to the development of communities in Nigeria.
