Pastor Irene Manjeri Says Exhaustion, Not Illness, Caused Her Collapse During Church Service

Ugandan preacher and founder of Bethel Healing Ministries, Pastor Irene Manjeri, has spoken publicly for the first time since collapsing while ministering during a church service, clarifying that the incident was caused by extreme fatigue rather than an underlying illness.

The respected minister explained that a demanding ministry schedule, which included international travels and several preaching engagements within a short period, had taken a toll on her physically. She said she had pushed herself beyond her limits and needed adequate rest. 

Addressing concerns raised by the viral video of her collapse, Pastor Manjeri assured supporters that she is recovering well. She encouraged believers not to speculate about her health, stressing that the incident was the result of exhaustion and not a life-threatening medical condition.

Manjeri was speaking at fellow pastor Bishop Patrick Makumbi’s church when she opened up about her health struggles.

“I am so tired. I held a crusade in Mayuge about six days ago after returning from Hong Kong, Japan, and the United States. While I was in America, I was admitted to hospital because my heart was pumping too fast. People didn’t know, but I still had to return to Uganda,” she said.

The preacher also used the opportunity to remind ministers and Christian workers of the importance of balancing ministry with rest. She noted that while serving God requires commitment and sacrifice, caring for one’s physical health is equally important for sustained and effective ministry. 

Pastor Manjeri collapsed while preaching at a church service in Uganda in late July, prompting concern across the Christian community. Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, leading to prayers and messages of support from Christians in Uganda and beyond. 

Her latest statement has reassured followers, many of whom continue to pray for her complete recovery and strength as she prepares to resume ministry activities.
