Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni hosted the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, at a state dinner in Entebbe.
The reception formed part of Pastor Adeboye’s visit to Uganda ahead of the consecration of President Museveni’s daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop of Covenant Nations Church.
President Museveni disclosed that he and the First Lady were pleased to welcome Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Folu to State House, expressing appreciation to the Nigerian cleric and other Christian leaders who travelled to Uganda for the significant occasion.
The President also highlighted the role of Christian teachings in promoting values such as love, forgiveness and service to others, noting their contribution to African society.
Pastor Adeboye’s visit coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of Covenant Nations Church, founded and led by Pastor Patience Rwabwogo. She was consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop on Sunday, August 23, at the church’s Covenant Hill campus in Maya, Wakiso District.
The consecration attracted several prominent Christian leaders, including American evangelist Bishop Dr LaDonna C. Osborn and Archbishop Moses Odongo of the Pentecostal Churches in Uganda. Pastor Adeboye was also among the ministers who participated in the historic ceremony.
The state reception further highlighted the growing relationship between prominent Christian leaders across Africa and the significance attached to the occasion by Uganda’s First Family.
