Just like beloved Mama Evangelist Dr. Bola Are, Minister (Mummy) Amaka Okwuoha, popularly known as Chioma Jesus is a Nigerian gospel artiste and songwriter who is renowned for her singing prowess in the Igbo dialect. A matriarch in the gospel music industry, she  is also popularly known for the her hit song “Chioma” which was released in 2003. Chioma Jesus got the name 'Chioma Jesus' from the song 'Chioma' and decided to add Jesus to it. It is also the name of her debut album.

Chioma Jesus was born Amaka Ebizie on February 12, 1972, in Lagos but hails from Imo state. She lost her father and mother (Nze Euzebius Chukwumaeze Ebizie and Lolo Dorathy Ebizie) at a tender age, leaving seven children with her as the eldest among them. She started singing at the young age of 9 in her church choir. Her pastor helped her develop her singing talent. However, she officially started her singing career at the Scripture Union Fellowship many years ago as a soloist.

Her musical career rooted in the church through her church choir where she started singing at the age of 9. She later not only became a soloist but also a chorus leader in the Scripture Union Fellowship in her church. Although she wrote her first song in Yoruba, she mostly writes Igbo and sometimes, in English language.

Chioma Jesus became popular after her song, ‘Chioma Jesus‘ became a hit in 2003 and has been a household name in the Gospel-Afro genre of Nigeria. Her first song was written in Yoruba even though she is known for singing and writing her songs in Igbo. Her popularity soared in 2010 after her Delta Yadah Award nomination, an award she later won in 2011 and 2012. The Delta Yadah is an annual concert in Delta state which features professional gospel singers.

She released her biggest song ‘Praise’ in 2011 which topped gospel charts in Nigeria. She has worked with top gospel artistes like Sinach and Samsong and has over 20 songs to her name.

Some of the awards she has won include the Omega Legend Award as the most outstanding gospel artist in Nigeria, Advocate of Christian Excellence in Christianity, HFTBT Award for Transparency and Integrity in the Gospel Music Ministry.

Chioma Jesus used to be a trader and businesswoman in the food industry before she ventured into music.Considering her background, her story of overcoming poverty is a testimony and can reaffirm one's belief in God again. Today, she is married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha and they are blessed with three children. She waited 15 years after her first son before she welcomed her daughter which she calls her ‘miracle baby’. 

Chioma Jesus has a foundation in Rivers state called Inheritance of Mercy foundation. She is also signed to gospel record labels including New Jerusalem Entertainment and CJ Entertainment.

In 2011, she released the hit song 'Praise'. In 2019, she released an album titled 'My Testimony'. The songs in the album includes Prophetic Praise, I Have Never Seen Anyone Like you, Okike Imela (Almighty God Thank You), Odiro Onye Dika Gi meaning There is no one Like You and many more. She is also known for hit songs like "Bulldozer", "Okemmuo" ft Mercy Chinwo, "Miracle God", "Lord that changeth not", "Odiro onye di kagi", "Favour me".

Evangelist Mrs Amaka Okwuoha, popularly called [Chioma Jesus], was born in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. She was born to late Nze Euzebius Chukwumaeze Ebizie, Omeokachie 1 Of Amanator & Lolo Dorathy Ebizie Of Ogboza Autonomous Community, Amanator clan in Ideato south Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. Unfortunately Chioma Jesus lost both father and mother at a tender age, Leaving seven children with her as the eldest among them.

She is Married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha and their marriage is blessed with wonderful Children.

Chioma Jesus got born again on the 28th Of August, 1986, at a very tender age in a revival programme organized by her local church in her village. She is a member of scripture union (SU) As a highly committed born again christian, she suffered several persecutions both at home and in school. In her final year during her secondary school days, the school authority and the final year students agreed to contribute money for exam malpractice, Amaka being a highly committed born again christian even though very young was the only student in the whole school, who said that she was not contributing any money to bribe the examiners as to allow them practice examination malpractice. She decided that it is better for her to fail her WAEC than sin against God by involving in such crime. Other final year students planned to disturb her in the examination hall in addition of confiscating her properties. She reported this to one of her brother, OAU Ugoha who wrote a petition to the school and informed the principal of the school the consequences of their action. The issue raised very serious controversy both in the school and in the community; this helped to put a stop to their action and even the planned examination malpractice.


After she accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour and discovering the grace of God in her in the area of praise and music like her late father who was a great singer in the village of local youth Organization-Ogboza and Umueze Development Society {OUDS} which he founded among others. Amaka started singing in her local church and in the scripture union fellowship as soloist, chorus leader backed up with local instruments and at time without instruments especially in the scripture union fellowships. She also gives special numbers that are heart touching and soul inspiring in various local church programmes and crusades. Sometimes her immediate younger sister Ogechi will back her up.

This led to her invitation to sing in various meetings, fellowships and crusades which cut across denominations.

By the Divine plan of God, God brought her into prominence when she was invited as a guest artist in St. Andrews Anglican Church, Mile 1 Diobu Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria through Ven. Azubuike Ugoha and Ugoha. She was soon led to settle in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

To enable her spread this gospel of our Lord through gospel music, She launched her musical on the 21st April 2004 at Taland Hotel, D/Line, in PH which was successful and gave her many places to minister in songs. This is the foundation the Lord laid for her prominence in the Gospel Ministry. Since then, The lord has added to her a prophetic gift which the Lord himself has used to liberate souls from bondages and restore his divine plan to his people.

Evangelist [Mrs] Amaka Okwuoha has released six inspirational albums currently in the market as follows: Omega Praise, Chioma Jesus 1&2, Next Level Praise, Prophetic Praise and Divine Level Praise.

Chioma Jesus has also attracted several awards from several churches, organizations and denominations. These include:

Evangelist Amaka Okwuoha popularly called Chioma Jesus is a female Nigerian gospel artiste and one of the most popular indigenous gospel songwriter from the eastern part of Nigeria.

 

Chioma Jesus is best known for using Igbo language to write and sing her songs, occasionally seasoned with English but surprisingly, her first ever song was written in Yoruba language. However, her desires and passion is to use her song to win more souls for Christ and to see gospel artistes becoming what God has called them to be.
 

Amaka Okwuoha was given birth to in a poor community in Lagos state, in the heart of an environment that can be described as underdeveloped. But this didn’t hinder her from developing her God-given talent. She began singing at the age of Nine years at her local church, and she was greatly supported by her pastor in realizing her potentials and he also went as far as enrolling her in the College of Music. 

The Delta Yadah is the annual concert which is usually held in Asaba, Delta State. It features the anointed, seasoned, and professional gospel music ministers who are proudly some of Nigeria’s finest.
In 2011 and 2012, she won awards of the Delta Yadah Award ceremony and in 2011 she released one of her biggest hit titled “Praise.” The song topped charts in Nigeria and shot her fame as one of the Nigeria’s top gospel singer.

 

Before she became a gospel artiste, she was a trader affiliated with the food industry. She is married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha and the union is blessed with three wonderful children. She started the Inheritance of Mercy Foundation in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

Chioma Jesus started her singing career at the Scripture Union Fellowship about nineteen years ago. Before her fame, She has ministered on the stages of several churches in and out of Nigeria and she has a good rapport with the biggest gospel artiste in Nigeria.
Similarly, she has shown true passion for the gospel with her unique voice and her songs that draws you closer to God in sweet fellowship.

She is humble and collaborates with other gospel singers to achieve the sole aim of bringing the gift of Christ to people through songs. Also, she is one of the true ambassadors of proper Nigerian gospel music. Her music and lyrics are not only well known in this country but in many African states as well.  Chioma Jesus is scheduled to release her debut album soon.
